Qatar Petroleum (QP) is a state-owned public corporation established by Emiri Decree No. 10 in 1974. It is responsible for all phases of the oil and gas industry in the State of Qatar.

The principal activities of QP, its subsidiaries and joint ventures are the exploration, production, local and international sale of crude oil, natural gas and gas liquids, refined products, synthetic fuels, petrochemicals, fuel additives, fertilizers, liquefied natural gas (LNG), steel and aluminium.

QP’s strategy of conducting hydrocarbon exploration and development is through Exploration and Production Sharing Agreements (EPSA) and Development and Production Sharing Agreements (DPSA) concluded with major international oil and gas companies.

The operations and activities of QP and its affiliates are conducted at various onshore locations, including Doha, Dukhan and the Mesaieed and Ras Laffan Industrial Cities, as well as offshore areas, including Halul Island, offshore production stations, drilling platforms and the North Field.

Learning and Development (HL)
The Learning and Development Department is dedicated to advancing knowledge and learning as important tools in the development of Qatari nationals across the energy and industry sector, thus contributing to the further provision of skilled human resources in the State of Qatar.

The main objectives of the department are as follows:

Attract, recruit, train and prepare Qatari high school and university students to assume posts in QP and the energy and industry sector in general;
Support the recruitment, educational sponsorship and development of Qatari nationals;
Manage educational sponsorships for high-potential Qatari students and QP trainees;
Design oil and gas competency-based vocational, academic and professional training programs in collaboration with QP’s functional leaders and in line with strategic priorities and objectives;
Facilitate the placement, career progression and professional development of Qatari nationals in line with QP’s Qatarization plans;
Deliver development programs on effective leadership and design individual development plans for future QP leaders as part of the corporation’s Leadership Development Framework.​

QP RECRUITMENT PROCESS


The Human Resources Recruitment Division of QP manages the recruitment process, from need identification to job specification through to interviewing and hiring selected candidates.
Line/Department managers are fully supported by human resources throughout the entire recruitment process and each candidate is selected based solely on merit and ability. Depending on the type of job and the skills and competencies required, short listed candidates may undergo evaluation processes (written tests, site interview) to help identify their skills and suitability.
Selected expatriate candidates will be required to complete some formalities to process their work permits and employment visas, as per Qatar's immigration norms.

STAGE 1: APPLICATION
A candidate can apply to a maximum of three positions of interest which correspond to his/her educational background, skills set and experience. An e-mail is sent to the candidate confirming receipt of the application.

STAGE 2: ASSESSMENT
Once the application is submitted in our system, it will be reviewed against the requirements of the position. Due to the large volume of applications we receive, only the candidates most closely aligned with the position requirements will be contacted directly. Candidates who are not selected for an interview will be accordingly advised by email.

STAGE3: INTERVIEW
The interview process may include a telephone/video conference interview with a QP recruiter and/or line manager and a face-to-face/onsite interview. The primary purpose of the interview process is to assess the technical and cultural correspondance of the candidate with the needs of QP, and serves as a way for the candidate to gain a better understanding of the opportunity.

STAGE4: SELECTION
QP will offer letters to candidates who have successfully passed the interviews as well as all other requirements.
PRE-EMPLOYMENT CHECKS
QP will undertake a number of pre-employment checks like education verification, criminal record check, work experience verification, etc...
